The Canadian Blood and Marrow Transplant group (CBMTG) is pleased to announce it has changed its name to Cell Therapy Transplant Canada (CTTC).
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, JULY 16, 2019
The Canadian Blood and Marrow Transplant Group (CBMTG), a member-led, national, multidisciplinary organization providing leadership and promoting excellence in patient care, research and education in the field of blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy, announced it has changed its name to Cell Therapy Transplant Canada (CTTC) in recognition of the shift toward cellular therapies in this field of medicine. The CTTC name more closely reflects the scope of the association and the commitment to serving as the community for healthcare providers, researchers, and patients who are dedicated to cures involving blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapies.
A motion was passed by the membership at the recent 2019 annual conference held on June 5-8, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta. A proposal to change the name was put forth by the Board of Directors of the association based on a strategic planning survey issued to its membership. After a consultation process from the membership, the new name of Cell Therapy Transplant Canada / Transplantation et Thérapie Cellulaire Canada was elected.
“The CBMTG is currently your voice for blood and marrow transplant, and we want to make the CTTC the voice for clinicians and clinical programs in the cellular therapy world,” explained Dr. Donna Wall, Section Head of the Blood and Marrow Transplant/Cellular Therapy program at the Hospital for Sick Children and President of CTTC.
The name change comes at a critical point when the CTTC is providing leadership in cell therapy across Canada. Along with the new name, the association has updated the mission, vision and strategic priorities.
